NewestCars.net - We are just six months down in the year 2015 and the Indian automobile sector has seen quite a few launches as well as upgrades by a lot of big names like Volvo V40, XC90, Audi RS6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet, to name a few. The second half of the year looks just as promising as the first half and quite a few big brands are lining up with their launches. So just sit back and relax and take a glance through the below list of five upcoming performance cars in India.
Ford Mustang: As it has been reported earlier, the American carmaker Ford is in the process of launching its 'pony car' Mustang on the Indian soil. The exterior shows every bit of elegance with the front portion being long and slopes downwards. The grille has its trademark 'pony' along with aggressive looking headlamps on each side. The rear portion has its classic triple pod taillight cluster. The side profile has a shoulder line on both sides stretching from front to the rear wheel arches.
The cabin inside the Mustang in all probability will get SYNC3, an advanced infotainment system. The dashboard cluster has retro looks and it is a four seater car. We hope to get 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine in India which will give an economy of 15kmpl, which is decent fuel efficiency keeping in mind it’s a performance car. The power output of the EcoBoost engine is 310bhp and torque of 433Nm. We expect the Mustang to hit the markets by November 2015.
Mercedes-Benz AMG-GT: The two door two-seat sports car by Mercedes has been in the news since its launch in 2014. It is the second car which has been manufactured entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. It is the arch nemesis of Porsche 911.
The engine of AMG GT is lower in chassis and behind the front axle and is without the lubricating sump which pushes the centre of gravity of the car further down. It has a 4.0 liter V8 engine which can churn out peak power of 502 bhp and max torque of 620Nm enabling the car to zip past in just a blink of an eye. It has an excellent body control and the mechanical grip is sensational. The interior has the latest touchpad for commands to operate and navigate the car with ease. The car is expected to be out somewhere in November this year.
Jaguar XE: Jaguar the premium car manufacturer is all set to launch Jaguar XE to compete in the category of Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. XE is the larger version of XF. It has a smaller and more compact grille, headlamps with LED daytime running lights; the bumper is expected to be a bit higher with more ground clearance.
The rear profile is sportier and smaller. The design of the cabin inside is very much a takeoff of the Jaguar XJ with the same climate control, infotainment system and instrumentation on board. The engine of XE will most probably be the 2.0 litre i4 diesel engine which would have power of approx 177bhp and torque of around 430Nm. It should be launched sometime early next year.
Audi Q7: Q7 is what I would define as the car with all the luxury of space, comfort, styling and performance. The German car manufacturer has cut off 325 kgs of weight from this SUV which has revved up the performance of the car by 26%.
The large front grille encapsulates the Audi logo as well as the license plate. The front and the rear portions are sharper and meaner looking. Inside the cabin, Audi has added the latest MMI infotainment system and the information screen are fully digitised. The engine will be the re-tuned 3.0 liter TDI V6 motor that generates 272hp and 600Nm of torque. The car should be available by November 2015.
Jeep Grand Cherokee: After a lot of rumors and speculations, finally Cherokee has decided to make its debut on the Indian shores. This SUV is muscular as well sturdy which will make driving it on bumpy Indian roads like a dream. It has a box type style with and imposing front profile. The arches around the wheel are rectangular in shape. Power would be derived from the 3.0 liter V6 engine producing 240bhp and max torque rated at 570Nm.
